Lovely Sara

In anticipation of some seriously awesome blog posts that are heading this way, I wanted to give you all an opportunity to meet Sara. Sara and her incredibly charming groom were married this past summer in a fabulously romantic woodland setting, but right now is not the time to share those photos. Right now, I want you to feast your eyes on Sara’s ultra lovely bridal portraits that were photographed on the campus of Winthrop University.  I am a graduate of Winthrop and have always found it to be both romantic and historically lush so it seemed the perfect place to take Sara for her customized session.

This is McBryde Hall, one of the older buildings on campus, and it was once the site of social dances and parties between the girls of Winthrop and the stationed airmen in training for World War II.

Sara has amazingly blue eyes but there is a real sense of grit behind them. Women that are both lovely and tough at the same time always make me proud to know them. Sara is smart and very girly but if you left her with twigs and a rock in the middle of the woods I am confident she could manage warm shelter and a hot meal.

Sara’s hair and makeup was expertly done by Mandi English of M Style Studio in Charlotte, NC.

We had so much fun running around the campus, as fast as you can in that magnificent gown, going in and out of buildings and mingling with art. I think it is always so wonderful when a woman takes the time for a bridal portrait.

Stay tuned for more info on Sara and Andreas rustic romantic wedding!

Brie’s Gorgeous Bridal Portraits

It is not every bride-to-be who wants her fiancee to not only help shop for her wedding gown or see the bridal portraits post session, but then that is the magic of  Brie and Harris.  Brie has a personality that jumps through the phone and I remember that after our first phone conversation, Casey and I started the chain of prayers, “God, please let us sign her, please let us sign her, please let us sign her!”  Brie was a friend we simply hadn’t met yet and we just could not wait to hear from her again.  When we met Harris we also wanted to give him a big hug and share our excitement for them and so we did!

Brie is gorgeous and fun but has a grounded nature that lets you know that she is also serious.  She approaches her relationships and work with great care and her wedding plans have been no different.  For her bridal portrait, Brie knew she wanted something classic and stylish that would evoke southern charm and elegance for years to come.  In her mind, this is her first heirloom that she is building for her family’s future.  We were blown away by that and knew we had  to find the exact spot for her.  Brie wanted southern elegance but also something natural and organic.  We found the perfect balance at The Duncan Estatein Spartanburg, South Carolina.  Brie and I are both Internet research fanatics and fell in love with their website.  The grounds were perfect and the inside of the house has wall paper that makes any vintage loving girl flip!  They were very accommodating of our request and so we set the date.

We will keep you updated on Brie and Harris and their approaching nuptials at The City Club in Charlotte next month!

Evolving Philosophy

With the new year in full swing, and resolutions boldly underway, Casey and I want to focus on the impulses in our lives that spur on our creativity.  Sometimes, it is the impulse to meditate and rest that can lead to the most fruitful ideas and creations.  In this case though, we wanted to focus on the aspect of celebration that we love so much.  Celebrating each little triumph as a business owner, a parent and married couple is so very important.  Continuing to spread the joy of life to others supersedes it all.  Making someone else’s life better than when you met them is such a tremendous blessing and one not all people think of when they think of photography.  For us, we approach photography in an elegant way but through a historical lens to capture iconic facets of each of our subjects.  We want each of our client’s to look at their photos and not only be blown away by their own beauty but to say, “That is so me…us…our family…my dog…my baby.”

A passion for people, sharing and celebrating has lead us to ask those around us, “What is your passion?”  One friend whom we recently thought of is Amy Tritt, a fiery red head and talented artists who manages MAC makeup of South Park.  Amy exudes fashion, confidence and glamour at any given time of day, but only in a style that is truly “Amy”.  Amy typically wears bold fashions but mostly black , loves her pomeranians, any great fiction, music galore, and the color pink.   I started brainstorming a fun little photo shoot with Amy in mind and a certain party invite.  I love kitsch and glamour equally but mixing the two is bliss.  Enjoy some images of Amy that are purely about fun, creativity, life, joy, love, inspiration, excitement and self-expression.

Sneak Peek!

So the topic of “passion” has been floating around like a fully caffeinated buzz word since January magazines hit the December grocery aisles.  Finding and following your passion inspired the photo below

but what is inside?

A passion project

What happens when people who love art and entertaining get together? Over the next few weeks, you will be hearing more and more about a concept developed between Amy Craparo of The Wow Factor Cake Design and Cunningham Photo Artists to unite function and fun in a live social networking event. In the coming weeks, we ask you to ask yourself, “What’s your passion?” Whatever it is, go for it. Live your fullest life and enjoy it as much as possible. Cheers to you!
