When your wee one starts to toddle around it is adorable! The pride on their face, the energy in their step is amazing and equally scary as you now have to watch them every second so they don’t go crashing into one thing or the other. I encourage parents who bring their toddlers to me to let them be themselves. Holding them at this age can feel like torture, unless at play. We want to capture all that is their sparkling personality, their silly faces and their boundless energy in a toddler session.
I’m so happy that the Fitzgeralds came in for a session! I look forward to seeing Miss G grow! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
collective that is womanhood. I love my family, my art, my job but I love the feeling most of knowing that I am connected to every woman on the planet in our commonality. Not every woman has to carry a child to be a mother, and not every woman who gives birth to new life can foster a positive future for her child alone. Rejoice in the village, hold on to your female friends, and let’s make this year one where we create better role models for young girls. Empowerment is a state of being. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I went on WBTV this past weekend to share some education about modern wedding albums with Kristen Miranda. Click to see the video! I truly believe the most important part of choosing a wedding photographer is first, their style of images. If you have amazing images captured, the way that you want to remember and that truly speak to you on an emotional level, you will be thrilled and delighted with your photographs always. The next step in choosing should be how does your photographer deliver your art? Is it a DIY approach, then choose that if that works for you. I personally prefer to work with couples who appreciate great art and love having it made for them, not by them. One of my favorite things about photographing weddings is designing the wedding album! We approach each client’s photographic needs like an interior designer. I have custom designed albums for clients wanting clean and classic mat albums, non-traditional hemp paper wind-powered made photo journals, glass covered flush mounts, contemporary magazines and more. At Cunningham Photo Artists we like to get personal and design an album that not only invites you in each time, but truly captures the spirit of your personalities and how you shared that with your loved ones on your wedding day. This is your album, it’s the start of your history and something that you will share with friends, family and even future generations so choose materials that will last the test of time. This is an investment, because it does get more precious and valuable overtime. However, if it isn’t designed well or the images that you have to work with are not of any quality you want to look at for the rest of your life, it only becomes more of an expensive regret over time.

The first time I heard the letters, HIV, I was in an auditorium in 7th grade. My friends and family had gone to our school for a presentation on AIDS, a topic that had been all over the news for some time , but our school wanted to educate the community on the disease and how to not only protect yourself from it, but how to help those who may be infected with it. This was a sort of educational pep rally for information and assistance, not a fear seminar or hate speech symposium. Since that day, I have always approached the subject of AIDS/HIV with compassion and concern. AIDS does not discriminate between race, religion, gender or sexual orientation and it also doesn’t care how old you are to infect you. Science and medicine have made enormous strides since I sat back in that auditorium in the 80′s, with a banana clip no less, but I am baffled by the fact that the number of those infected with AIDS and HIV is on the rise in North Carolina. In fact, Mecklenburg County has the highest number of HIV/AIDS cases in North Carolina. When we speak of AIDS, most people think of a global epidemic, which it truly is and a cure must be found. Casey and I decided that we wanted to reach out a hand to those in our own backyard first and so we learned about RAIN. RAIN is short for Regional Aids Interfaith Network, and supports a cause that seems natural to the month of February because it is all about love. Serving from a place of love without judgement is so very important to both Casey and I and we are thrilled that RAIN said yes to our proposal! RAIN has been serving the community since 1992 and their vision is awesome: RAIN will be recognized as a model for providing compassionate care and a leader for innovative and effective AIDS work that engages a diverse network of volunteers committed to putting faith in to action. We will integrate the wisdom and voices of those infected with HIV/AIDS in the planning and delivery of our services. We will be a leader and educator among our health and human service organizations as well as faith-based and community groups, partnering with them on initiatives and promoting dialogue that seriously examines and deals with the spiritual and social justice issues connected with HIV/AIDS. As a result of our work, we will inspire and empower more people to live, open more minds and help break stigma of HIV/AIDS regionally, nationally and internationally. Help us raise money for the HIV+ individuals that RAIN serves and make some incredibly beautiful family memories for yourself. Our focus is love, and for the rest of the month we want to share that love with all who need it.
